Description

This is the map for the Wild Lands, and it's also the last regional map for Aina! I'm sure I'll be tweaking some things and making smaller, more detailed maps of specific areas, but I can't believe I'm finished! At this point, I only have to do the write up for one race (the Altmer) and I'll have a playable campaign setting! Man!

The Wild Lands are so named because they are not only untamed, but truly untameable. All of the monstrous races (from orcs, gnolls, and goblins to frost giants) have their genesis here, and are most concentrated in these lands. Rather than civilization, monsters, humanoid creatures, and civilized peoples that were rejected from society roam this territory in packs, from the savage lands of the south to the frozen wastes of the north.

Settlements:
Occasus is the ruin of an old Atralonian settlement. It was overrun by monstrous races over 50 years ago, and is now a favorite camp for raiders and brigands in the Wild Lands.

Raptor Bluff is a tall butte in a place where forest, desert, and brackish steppes come together. It is the refuge of hunters the world over, and is a popular base of operations for anyone wanting to test their mettle in the Wild Lands. It's only wealth is in the hides of monsters brought in from the hunt, and because of its natural defenses it has suffered very few attacks throughout its history.

Grapple is the conglomeration of many monstrous races that have set aside their differences to make a city. Each race has their own quarter in the city, and a tenuous law keeps them from tearing each other apart. Much of Grapple's existence is owed to the work of Grak Oakfist, an Orc chieftan and hero, some 200 years ago. His vision was to bring the monstrous races together to finally crush Men and Mer alike, and while he brought them all to one place, Grak couldn't get the races to cooperate long enough to coordinate an attack. Still, it's a popular source for monstrous raids into the lands of Atralonia and Krôn.

Jotunbrow is the capital of the Frost Giants, a veritable mountain of a castle, wickedly carved from a gargantuan lab of ice. Many other caves in the Frozen Crown and all the lands of the Everwinter Wastes are warrens of these imposing creatures, but Jotunbrow is notorious for its numbers and regional power.

Besides these four settlements, there are countless hundreds of camps and nomadic tribes in the region, but they are too insignificant and mobile to mention on such a broad map.
